APPLIED LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

A community partnership with WilmingtoNColor to create a virtual reality companion tour to the guided bus tour led by director Cedric Harrison.

A summer collaboration with School of Making Thinking in the production and exhibition of virtual reality films at the Cucalorus Film Festival.

 A collaboration with UNCW Digital Arts to create media art, performance projects as a part of the outdoor public art festival focused on environment issues, water, and environmental justice.

 An opportunity to conduct research in the IFML with various new media / media arts technology based on student researcher interests.

PARTNERED COURSES

  • FST 332: INTERACTIVE MEDIA

    The course explores projection technology to create projection mapping installation, aka Spatialized Augmented Reality, multi-channel video installations, and interactive media installations via physical computing technology. Students utilize these skills for projects pertaining to video art, live event production, projection design, and the creation of virtual backgrounds for video production.

  • FST 398: 360 VR CINEMA

    This special topics course gives students a chance to create “stories in the round”. The course focuses on the creations of lens based virtual reality films using 360 capture cameras.

  • FST 379: BLACK FEMALE FILMMAKERS

    This course intends to introduce students to Black women’s cinema through narrative fiction films, documentaries, experimental films, music videos, and podcasts. The audio-visual material will range from historical to contemporary and showcase multimodal forms.
