She is an award-winning found footage filmmaker and scholar whose experimental work deconstructs intersectional representations of gender in mainstream media and explores the ethics of appropriation. She is an Associate Professor of Journalism and Media Production at the University of Michigan-Dearborn and co-founder and director of EDIT Media (Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in Teaching Media). Her films have been featured in such venues as Anthology Film Archives, Edinburgh Film Festival, Rotterdam, Ann Arbor Film Festival, Festival of (in)Appropriation, and more. Her essays have appeared in journals including Screen, Jump Cut, and [in]Transition: Journal of Videographic Film and Moving Image Studies. She is the former director of the Austin Cinemaker Co-op and managing director of the Cinematexas Film Festival and currently sits on the advisory board of the Ann Arbor Film Festival.
